My report is on Edmonton, Canada. Edmonton, Canada is the most northern major city in North America. Edmonton is the capital and a principal city of Alberta, Canada. In my report, I will discuss the history and geography of Edmonton, activities and sites to see, and economics.
Edmonton, Canada was first settled in 1754. Anthony Hendy explored Edmonton looking for fur trade. He worked for the Hudson Bay Company. In 1795 Fort Edmonton became a major trading post for selling fur. The deputy governor of Hudson Bay Company named the city after his hometown in London. Between 1940 and 1950 the city of Edmonton became home to most of Alberta’s oil industry. Edmonton, Canada became known as the oil capital of Canada.
There are many sites and actives to do in Edmonton, Canada. The Edmonton Art Gallery was built in 1924. It has paintings, sculptures, and photographs by Canadian and international artists. Edmonton has casinos. The University of Alberta was built in 1906. College students would like to see the University of Alberta. The West Edmonton Mall and Canada Fantasyland is a huge retail and recreation complex. It is the largest shopping and entertainment center in the world. They also have a symphony, opera and theater companies.
Edmonton is said to have the best economic potential of any North American city. Edmonton is in the top five large North American cities for business development and investment promotion. Edmonton has agricultural farming and makes chemical products. It also has oil and natural gas pipelines. Edmonton has the second largest oil reserves in the world. Canada largest meat processing plants is located there. The city has had much growth in technology and research.
Edmonton is a great place to live in Canada. It is an important city to Canada. Oil in Edmonton is important to Canada’s economy. There are some fun things to do in Edmonton. Edmonton’s has interesting history. It’s a great city and I found it interesting.
